The Jarrold Book Department has been awarded second prize in the Vintage Independent Bookshop of the Year Award. The prize was awarded to the department for a series of themed events over the summer including a Vintage Fun Day; and for its creative displays.
Vintage is one of the major divisions of the Penguin Random House publishing group. The award, now in its third year, was open to any independent bookseller of any size. Judges included Vintage deputy publishing director Rachel Cugnoni, Vintage brand director Claire Wilshaw and Vintage key account manager for independent bookshops Kate Gunning.
Gunning said: " I really love judging this competition. It's been such a joy to see the enthusiasm with which independent bookshops the length and breadth of the country have showcased Vintage books and authors. Yet again, my fellow judges and I were hugely impressed by the number of entries and the overall standard. Congratulations to [winners] Storytellers, Inc., (second place) to Jarrolds and to [third placed] Slightly Foxed, and warmest thanks to all who entered."
