Beneath the grand façade of Jarrolds, in the depths of the home department, a hidden treasure waits to be discovered. Legend has it that centuries ago, a crew of ghostly pirates, led by the infamous Captain Benji Blackbeard, set sail in search of the ultimate prize—a chest filled with rare toys and glittering gems from far-off lands, worth over £1,000. But the captain was betrayed by his first mate, and their ship, The Bay, was cursed to sail the mists forevermore, vanishing into thin air just as they reached the shores of Norfolk.

Every few years, when the stars align and the wind whispers through the grand halls of Jarrolds, a piece of that pirate treasure appears for the bravest of adventurers to claim. Encased in a locked box of metal, wrapped in the gold chains of loyalty, the treasure is said to contain untold riches of childhood wonder. However, no one has been able to crack the code that keeps it sealed. Some say the ghosts of Captain Benji’s crew still guard it, waiting for someone clever enough to unlock their secrets.

To open the box, daring explorers must first pledge their allegiance to the Jarrolds Loyalty Crew. By signing up and joining this exclusive band of adventurers, they’ll gain access to enter a four-digit code that unlocks the treasure. Only those who show their loyalty will have the chance to outwit the pirates and claim the bounty within. Will you be the one to join the crew and claim the treasure of Jarrolds? The clock is ticking…

Meet Jack Brock - the famous Shetland Pony

We’re excited to welcome Jack Brock, the famous Shetland pony, to Jarrolds on Friday 1 November from 11am to 12pm! Jack will be in the Children’s Department on Floor 3, where his owner, Ali Stern, will be signing copies of her delightful new book all about Jack’s adventures and how he has made a real difference in his community through visiting care homes.
