Jarrolds Chopping Boards Guide
Jarrolds has worked closely with Holder & Hook based in rural Norfolk, to create an exclusive range of solid oak boards. Each of these pieces is hand crafted with attention to detail, completely unique and made to last. The boards make the perfect gift, sharing food and drink, socialising with friends and family or as chopping boards.
Holder & Hook offer a truly homegrown product where they fell, mill and dry their own oak grown on their land. They sustainably manage their woodland and for every tree felled, they plant at least 20 more to ensure their woodland will last many lifetimes.
Working with Holder & Hook, Jarrolds shares in their passion for the natural beauty and longevity of oak.
Know Your Wood
Oak is one of Nature’s most durable materials and, when properly cared for, will last a lifetime. Before leaving the workshop, all the products are hand finished with either food safe board oil or homemade wood wax.
Holder & Hook use only the finest kiln dried oak which contains very low moisture levels to ensure the wood moves as little as possible. Oak is naturally hygroscopic and will change according to its environment. Therefore, please keep it away from heat sources such as ovens or AGAs.
Oak Board Care Instructions
Oak boards will need to be treated every 10-12 weeks depending on usage. To re-oil, apply a small amount of mineral oil or board wax using a soft cloth and work into the wood, concentrating on the end grain areas.
Leave for 10 minutes and then wipe off any excess. Never place your board in a dishwasher, oven, or microwave.
To clean your board, wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Never submerge in water and, where possible, store flat. Please be aware that certain foods such as cheese will stain your board if left for long periods.
