Goodrum & Merryweather 'invitation To Winter' Hat

'Invitation To Winter' is a small, perching, hat that will bring a glorious touch of cheer to colder months. Designed in high grade wool felt with an enticing colour combination of chartreuse and ultramarine, it is ideal for smart occasions. A November wedding? The races at New Year? A festive foray into Town?

This hat is moulded and stitched entirely by hand at the Goodrum & Merryweather studio in the heart of Norwich. Crafted the traditional way, using heritage skills and millinery techniques, it is trimmed with two hand-cut and hand-sculpted felt flowers, both with pearlescent stamen centres.

The base of the hat measures 15cm in diameter and is shaped simply, in a classic, rounded, style known as a button. Button hats are regarded as the milliners best friend since they suit almost every face and are superbly versatile and easy to wear, store and transport.

The 'Invitation To Winter' is secured to the head with a stretchy hat elastic (in black) that sits under the hairline for an invisible and comfortable fit. This arrangement allows the wearer to position and style the hat in multiple ways, to either the left or right side, depending on preference and mood.

And, not forgetting the underside, which is also rich with detail: a vintage silk lining is scallop stitched into place along with a matching Petersham ribbon band.
