About Working for Jarrolds Retail
Jarrolds is a very special, unique business. We are family owned and independent, with an incredible local heritage going back over 250 years to 1770. When you come to work here you are carrying on a tradition of excellence that has prevailed through two world wars, nine monarchs and over 60 prime ministers.
Our iconic flagship department store has traded from its prominent site in the centre of Norwich for over 160 years. Independent means we are not part of a national chain. Our Head Office and Exec Team are located in the department store. It is from here that all decisions affecting the Retail Division are made, from how we buy and trade, to who we employ and how we lead our teams, and strategic decisions about our future.
Our branch network includes two furniture branches in Wymondham and The Granary in Norwich. Also in Norwich are our Stationers & Art Store in Exchange St. On the coast at Cromer we have a branch selling gifts, stationery toys and books. We also operate a warehouse and distribution centre on the outskirts of Norwich
Jarrolds is a truly omnichannel business and our website team are based in Exchange Street.
Our vision is to inspire and delight through brilliant curation and outstanding experiences
People are our heart
Our people are the heartbeat of the business. It’s the heart and soul that creates the emotional connection that people feel to the Jarrolds brand.
Jarrolds' Retail Values
Our values are the standards we set ourselves and the ways we behave that make Jarrolds so unique. Whatever your role at Jarrolds, YOU can make a real difference.
Charities & Community
Jarrolds support a wide variety of local charities and initiatives. We want to help make Norwich and Norfolk an even more vibrant community, raising the area’s profile and creating an attractive environment to live, whilst supporting those who are in need.
As part of our commitment to the community, Jarrolds supports Norfolk Community Foundation by providing free office accommodation. In addition, our colleagues organise many different activities to raise funds for our chosen charity of the year. This year Jarrolds are supporting Nourish Norfolk, a local charity who concentrate on alleviating food poverty across our region.
Our approach to sustainability
We are very conscious of the need to play our part in supporting the global effort to combat climate change and other environmental challenges facing our society, the impacts of which will be felt by all of us. We understand that by reducing the impact of our activities it will help towards us building a more sustainable business, using natural resources more wisely and playing our part in supporting the environment.
In operating our Business, we strive to minimise our impact on the environment. This means constantly seeking opportunities to use resources more efficiently, including how we operate our buildings, work with suppliers and partners to reduce problematic sourcing and packaging, and reducing carbon consumption.
