We are delighted to be sponsoring the Best Norfolk Producer award at this year's EDP Food and Drink awards 2024.
Award entries have been through a stringent two round judging process throughout the summer with the finalists, below, announced on the 23rd of August. The grand event where winners will be announced will take place on Monday the 16th of September, at Caistor Hall Hotel.
The finalists for the prestigious awards this year, in no particular order, are Barsham Brewery, Mrs. Temples, Old Hall Farm and Chet Valley Vineyard. We know all these brands extremely well at Jarrolds, and we are extremely proud to have featured produce from all these lovely local brands in our food hall.
Barsham Brewery
Barsham Brewery located in picturesque North Norfolk is a local brewery with historic farming routes, producing a range of stunning beers all made from Norfolk grown malting barley. The craft beers that Barsham Brewery have become so well known for are all made from barley grown on site and harvested, before being locally malted and returned to complete the brewing process. In keeping with local heritage and Norfolk farming traditions the offerings from Barsham Brewery are a genuine farm-to-table product that is a big hit among fans of local craft beers, Norfolk Topper is perfect for summer afternoons in the garden.
Mrs. Temples Cheese
Mrs. Temples cheese, also located in North Norfolk, was the first cheese producer in Norfolk, with products made from the milk of Brown Swiss cows renowned for producing milk that goes on to become excellent cheese. All the cheeses are made locally, with the cows being fed with as much food also grown in North Norfolk as possible, which is just a small part of the green growth strategy of the farm. The Binham Blue is a big hit with Jarrolds customers in the food hall, but we hear Walsingham is a favorite among our marketeers.
Old Hall Farm
Old Hall Farm is located in South Norfolk, a beautiful location with a wide offering for its customers, all with raw Jersey milk dairy at the heart of the operation. The farm has traditionally been known for its open arable farmland, but more recently for the premium raw Jersey dairy produce curated on site. As well as a packed farm shop, deli, and cafe the farm also has a vineyard producing local wines, the Boudicca Blush has a reputation as lofty as its namesake with Jarrolds customers and staff. Be sure to look out for one of the open farm events that are so popular among the farm's customers and enjoy a range of the produce on offer from Old Hall Farm.
Chet Valley Vineyard
The second offering from South Norfolk is the Chet Valley Vineyard. The vineyard is well known for producing quality wines with sustainability central to the business, as well as a love and respect for the natural elements of the wine making process. The Vineyard picnic lunches are a popular offering from Chet Valley Vineyard. The picnics take advantage of their stunning Norfolk countryside location to showcase their famous local wines. You also receive a hamper made up of other Norfolk produce including cheese, meats, and baked goods. We cannot think of a more perfect way to enjoy a summer afternoon in the countryside than raising a glass to Norfolk basedNorfolk-based food and drink in a unique and beautiful location.
