Pink October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Beginning in the early eighties, breast cancer awareness month or ‘pink October’ had brought together charities, organisations, and individuals to help those facing breast cancer and make life-changing research and support happen.
The now-iconic pink ribbon appears as the impact of breast cancer is brought to the forefront of national conversation. With people being asked to get involved, take action, fundraise and donate to help take forward life-changing initiatives and help everyone affected by the disease.
This is a global effort to raise awareness on breast cancer, where efforts to educate those concerned about the disease, including early identification and with the signs and symptoms signposted.
This October, Jarrolds have joined forces with local Breast Cancer charities to fundraise and support those affected by breast cancer, and we need your help to kick-start our activities and help fund breakthroughs.
On Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October, we will be painting the Jarrolds Beauty Hall pink with colleagues dressed up and funky tunes from a local DJ! You’ll also have the chance to take part in fundraising activities from a beautiful lucky dip to a raffle for a rather special beauty hamper! There’ll be other things happening on our fashion departments and restaurants.
These efforts will all be in support of Keeping Abreast, a local Breast Cancer charity who were established in 2007 after recognising a great need for women, who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and facing the possibility of mastectomy or considering reconstructive surgery, to get together and share experiences of breast reconstruction, as well as related procedures and general well-being.
Supporting the cause, Estee Lauders 7-in-1 Advanced Night Repair Serum has gone pink to honour and support breast cancer awareness. For each purchase, Estee Lauder will donate 20% of the purchase price to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation which seeks to support lifesaving research and education.
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, go for a gloss that gives back. The Limited-Edition Proud To Be Pink Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss Duo features two hydrating, non-sticky lip glosses infused with a blend of nutrient-rich botanical oils for cushiony comfort and high-impact shine – each wrapped in exclusive power-pink packaging. Bobbi Brown Cosmetics will donate the full RRP (minus VAT) for each Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss Duo sold in the UK to Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
For October, we will also be supporting Look Good, Feel Better, a national cancer charity with local ties, who run free workshops to support women, men and young adults through a cancer diagnosis and help manage both the emotional and physical side-effects of treatment.
Their workshops are led by trained volunteers in the beauty industry and provide practical advice about changes to skin, eyebrows, eyelashes, hair, nails and body confidence as well as offering an invaluable opportunity to meet others going through a similar situation.
